In three preparatory modules \u2013 supported by the Swiss Arts Council &#8220;Pro Helvetia&#8221; \u2013 young composers at the beginning of their careers are given the opportunity to experiment with us as a professional specialist ensemble over a period of 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>For the final fourth module \u2013 then an integral part of our series \u2013 two selected graduates of the preparatory phase are commissioned to compose a new work as a musical &#8220;commentary&#8221; on a central work of the 20th or 21st century. The new works should &#8220;orbit&#8221; this composition as &#8220;satellites&#8221;, so to speak, i.e. make reference to it or contrast it. In 2017, the two satellites will revolve around the &#8220;Chamber Concerto&#8221;, one of the main works of the Hungarian composer Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti.<\/p>\n<p>The three prize-winning composers whose works were played after this internal concert were Elnaz Seyedi (1st prize), Kevin Juillerat (2nd prize) and Keitaro Takahashi (3rd prize).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EPhB organised a biennial international composition workshop for the second time in the 2016\/17 season.
